Tullie and Belle Vue Primary School are delighted to announce a brand-new programme – Adopt A School!
Tullie have an extensive schools programme that reaches over 12,000 pupils and 100 schools across Cumberland and Westmorland & Furness every year but for the first time ever Tullie will be adopting a school for the 25/26 academic year.
Tullie and Belle Vue have a long-standing relationship and have a shared commitment to raising aspirations and developing community pride. The programme will see Tullie and Belle Vue work closely together throughout the year, building relationships and supporting each other to develop exciting new activity and curriculum resources.
Andrew Cairns, Headteacher of Belle Vue says:
“We are thrilled to be working so closely with our friends at Tullie in this way; to be the first school ‘adopted’ is exciting! The scope of the planned projects, which are unique to our local area, will benefit our current pupils but also leave a legacy for others to learn from too, and that feels very special. We can’t wait to get started!”
From September, Tullie and Belle Vue will be working closely together on a number of projects:
- The creation of a local history walking trail between Belle Vue and Tullie – Year 6 pupils will take on a research project to find and highlight the hidden histories along the route, creating a fun and accessible trail for families to follow
- Tullie will be working with Belle Vue teachers to pilot and develop exciting new resources
- Belle Vue teachers and pupils will be part of developing new spaces in Project Tullie
- The project will end with Belle Vue school taking over Tullie for one day in the summer term!

“We are so excited to be launching this programme and especially to have Belle Vue as our first trailblazing school! We know how creative and enthusiastic Belle Vue staff and pupils are, and we can’t wait to get collaborating. As a thank you for participating, we are delighted to be able to offer Belle Vue pupils and their families a discount on entry to the museum – including our Dinosaur rEvolution exhibition – this summer.”
Tullie and Belle Vue will be working with Stephen Dunn, Communities & Culture Officer at Cumberland Council to develop the partnership and showcase the pupils’ creativity in spaces in the city centre.

As this is a brand-new initiative, Belle Vue and Tullie will work together to develop the scheme over the year, and will launch a call-out for the next participating school later in the year.
