Leave a Legacy

Tullie has been at the heart of Carlisle’s cultural life for over 130 years – a place to explore art, history and nature, share memories, spark curiosity and bring people together.

By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help ensure that Tullie continues to inspire, educate and welcome future generations for many years to come.

Why consider leaving a gift?

A gift in your Will, no matter the size, can make a lasting difference, it can help us to:

  • Care for our outstanding collections
  • Create exhibitions and learning opportunities
  • Provide welcoming spaces for our community groups, including programmes such as Meet Me at the Museum, our monthly session for people living with dementia, their carers and older adults seeking connection and conversation

After taking care of your loved ones, even a small percentage of your estate can have a meaningful impact.

Types of Gift

A share of your estate (residuary gift)

A specific amount of money (pecuniary gift)

A specific gift – a physical item, object or collection

The Impact of your gift

Legacy gifts help us to protect and share everything that makes Tullie special, from our collections and exhibitions to our learning programmes and community work.

Many of the objects, artworks and archives cared for by Tullie today have been generously donated by individuals and families who wanted to preserve Cumbria’s stories for future generations. These gifts have helped shape the collections we care for today and continue to inspire visitors of all ages.

They ensure future generations can continue to discover, learn and create their own memories.

Some people choose to leave a general gift to support Tullie’s work where it is most needed. Others prefer to support a particular area, such as exhibitions, learning programmes, our community activities like Meet Me at the Museum, which supports people living with dementia and older adults, or the care and conservation of our historic buildings and collections.

If you are considering leaving a specific item or collection, we would recommend getting in touch with us to discuss this further.
