In 2021, the Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre (CBDC) celebrated its tenth anniversary. Although natural history records have been received and collated at Tullie House since 1902, CBDC as it is now was established in 2011 by a partnership of local authorities, the biological recording community and Tullie. CBDC now holds over 2.1 million wildlife records, detailing the flora and fauna of the region.
The organisation exists to bring together, analyse and share data on Cumbria’s natural history, wildlife sites and habitats. This information can then be used for education, research and to help people make sound decisions when planning to develop and manage land sustainably.
