Collections Preparation Volunteer – Data Collection
Frequency: Weekly 3 hour sessions available – Tuesday 9.30-12.30pm, Wednesday 9.30-12.30pm and Thursday 9.30-12.30pm and 1.30-4.30pm

Background: Tullie has been evolving in recent years and work has now started on Phase 3 with involves transforming the old Border Galleries into an exciting new space where over 100,000 items will be on display.
Activity: Working largely in the Main Store the Collections Preparation Volunteer will play an important role in helping prepare the collection for display in Tullie’s new gallery space. While you may sometimes be asked to assist with collections handling, this role is primarily responsible for helping to collect object information using a laptop and spreadsheets. This volunteer will help with the location tracking, inventory level cataloguing and recording of object information as needed to help care for the collection and meet SPECTRUM standards. For a more physical and hands-on role there is a separate volunteer role which focuses on object handling.

We’re looking for someone who:
- Has basic IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Excel(some training will be provided)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Willingness to follow collections handling and safety guidelines
- Patience and ability to work on repetitive tasks
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions
- Learning new skills in object documentation
- Behind the scenes look at collections management
Additional information: Volunteers will be working in the Main Store for the duration of this role: there is limited accessibility inside the store.
