Garden Volunteer

Dates: A couple of hours a week ongoing – current garden volunteers meet on a Wednesday but another day could be arranged.

Purpose: To help maintain our wonderful gardens with weeding, planting, pruning and general tidying to keep the gardens looking lovely for our visitors.

Background: Our gardens date back to the Jacobean era, and they showcase a beautiful variety of native Cumbrian plants as well as a not so native but utterly stunning Cornus Kousa Dogwood. Visitors have been enjoying our gardens for decades and our volunteers have always helped maintain them.

Activity: This is an ongoing role taking direction from the Buildings team , but also using your initiative to help with the general upkeep of the gardens. This role would suit someone willing to volunteer 2-3 hours a week.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is reasonably fit
  • Can use their own initiative
  • Enjoys gardening
  • Has some knowledge of gardening
  • Enthusiasm
  • Commitment
