We invite you to listen to our soundscape as you move around the art gallery to give you another layer to your experience.
We’ve created this soundscape with 50 young women from Aspatria and Carlisle as a commission for the Sheila Fell: Cumberland on Canvas exhibition at Tullie museum (2024-25).
The creators are members from Young Woman UP, Beacon Hill Community School, Aspatria Dreamscheme, artist Emily Ford, Goatherder and Jonathan Sharp.
Sheila Fell was a radical female artist because she broke the conventions of her time and made a bold decision to dedicate her life to painting.
She made art that was real, relevant and familiar to her and didn’t care about what was popular at the time.
Sheila’s talent for creating a depth of feeling gives her work an expressive power that we’ve used to create this soundscape of new feelings: Feelings from the Fells.
If you’re listening from home or out and about, we hope you enjoy it too!
