Kate Nicholson painted this abstract seascape on Samos, Greece, while travelling with her mother, the artist Winifred Nicholson. Kate was an important St Ives painter specializing in exuberant still lifes and abstracts. She painted in Cumbria, St Ives, the Hebrides, Greece and North Africa.
