Gerald Hugh Tyrwhitt-Wilson Berners was born in Shropshire to aristocratic parents and became Lord Berners. Following a diplomatic career, he pursued his many creative passions and became a talented composer, novelist and artist. He knew countless influential writers, artists and musicians including Stravinsky, Salvador Dali, and Aldous Huxley. Berners’ landscape paintings were influenced by his own art collection, which included works by influential French artists Corot, Deraine, Matisse and Sisley.
