It was the home of nobility, chivalry and heroism – the Court of King Arthur and the home of the Knights of the Round Table. For hundreds of years the tales of Camelot have inspired writers, poets, artists and film-makers as seen in the recent The Legend of King Arthur: A Pre-Raphaelite Love Story exhibition. The tales of Arthur, his beautiful queen Guinevere, the brave band of knights and the wizard Merlin have stirred the imaginations of millions around the world.
But what of the songs and music inspired by the legends of Camelot? Brian Gaudet explores the many types of compositions and songs which recall the glories of Camelot – and its downfall. The talk ranges from opera to rock, big screen musicals to folk – and more.
Lunchtime Talks are free to attend (no admission required), but can get a little busy. So booking is recommended.
