The talk will begin in Uldale, explaining how the Ismay family moved from there to Maryport, and telling the story of Maryport born Thomas Henry Ismay, founder of Titanic’s operating company the White Star Line. Cliff will also discuss Thomas’ son Bruce Ismay; speaking of his life, and of how he followed in his father’s footsteps as head of the White Star Line. The talk will then move onto Titanic’s maiden voyage, and Bruce’s actions while aboard Titanic after the collision with the iceberg, ending with his life post Titanic.

Lunchtime Talks are completely free and do not require museum admission. Spaces are limited, though, so we recommend you book tickets.
