For February’s FREE Lunchtime Talk we’ll be joined by Katie McClure with her talk, Morton Sundour Fabrics through the lens of the Tullie textile collection.

Katie is a PhD student at the University of Glasgow, who spent her Spring 2024 placement volunteering at Tullie with the Fine and Decorative Arts Curator, Melanie Gardner. Her project was called ‘Trailblazing Textiles: Morton Sundour Fabrics and Edinburgh Weavers’ and focused on the history of these artistic fabrics which were designed and made in Carlisle. Her work to catalogue, re-house and explore this collection is showcased in the Carlisle’s Industrial Textiles display in the Border Galleries.

The talk will be in the Lecture Theatre in Old Tullie House, access via the Abbey Street garden entrance. It is completely free to attend, but spaces are limited so we recommend booking in advance.
