Tullie on Tour ’24
Funded by Cumberland Council, the programme focused on delivering activity in West Cumbria that promoted the ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing’ with a focus on adults with priority protected characteristics (age, socioeconomic and disability including mental ill health). The project delivered almost 1,000 engagements, with a ‘pop-up museum’ model at larger scale events working most effectively.
An extensive evaluation for the project was conducted, with key barriers such as lack of access to transport, infrastructure and a general sense that Tullie (and Carlisle) struggles to be relevant to many people from West Cumbria was identified. In the later stages of the project, the team turned their outreach focus back to Carlisle where demand was high. This led to the delivery of sessions at several care homes and assisted living facilities in the city, as well as longer-term partnership project with the Arts Coordinator at Cumberland Infirmary and their groups for people with Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease.
