The Portable Antiquities Scheme
The Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) was set up in 1997 and is managed in England by the British Museum, with regional partners who support finds recording on a local level. The PAS records archaeological finds found by members of the public, such as metal detectorists, and records them on a national database. They also help handle treasure cases.
