John Ellerman Foundation Project: De-tabooing Disposals

A two-year project in our social history and costume collections that helped us to improve collections care and access to objects.

Pilgrim Trust Archaeology Documentation Project

A project that improved documentation of the vast archaeology collection, much of which was rescued from now-defunct Carlisle Archaeology Unit.

Once Upon A Planet

Two-year initiative funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund, run by the Museums Association to use Tullie’s natural science collection to inspire, engage and advocate around the climate crisis, with young people leading the way.

Temple of Cultures 

A new mural on the 1990s extension of the museum. Designed and painted by street artist, Atma, working closely with those seeking asylum in Carlisle, delivered by Blank Wall Assassins.

Thriving Communities Carlisle 

A local partnership that used community, social, arts, culture and nature-based activities to support our communities health and wellbeing.

Helping Hands

A Cumbria Museum Consortium-led project to transform volunteering in the county’s cultural sector.
